At Minehead First School, we recognise that technology is changing the lives of everyone. Through teaching computing, we equip our children to participate in a rapidly changing world where work and leisure activities are increasingly transformed by technology. Effective use of IT gives the children the world at their fingertips.
We will enable children to find, explore, analyse, exchange and present information through the teaching of:
• Computer Science
• Information Technology
• Digital Literacy
We focus on developing the skills and knowledge necessary for children to be able to use computing as a key to unlock learning across the wider curriculum. Our computing teaching provides opportunities for children to use skills in a wide range of contexts.
Our carefully planned curriculum based on guidance from the National Centre for Computing Education, ensures a clear and coherent progression in each of the domains of knowledge promoting depth of learning.
Online safety is an essential element of computing that is taught explicitly and is reinforced throughout learning sequences. Knowledge of this area builds cumulatively in each year group and follows the Elim active bytes plans. It is also reinforced through PSHE lesson.
